Amazing Graze is a Blackpool & Fylde Coast community cafe that goes way beyond the call of duty. They open their doors to provide amazing service to the less fortunate homeless in Blackpool. Here is the official overview from Amazing Graze themselves.
“We are a soup kitchen in the South Shore area of Blackpool that opens its doors three evenings a week to provide a service to the homeless and less fortunate people in and around Blackpool. We have been established for seven years and are run by a team of dedicated volunteers and a committee.
We offer a comfortable, safe place where people can come to access a fresh cooked 2 course hot meal, food parcels, street packs for the homeless, resources such as toiletries, sleeping bags, clean clothes, laundry facilities, shower facilities, rehabilitation advice and support, course and education links and advice, benefits and housing advice.
Amazing Graze offers all of these services free of charge. We are also a place to come to socialise with others offering a non judgemental environment. We have bingo evenings, live music, inspirational speakers, , talent shows, themed nights, praise and worship to name but a few.
We also offer an outreach service on a Thursday evening for those who are unable to access our service for whatever reason where we have an army of dedicated volunteers that go out onto the streets of Blackpool to seek out rough sleepers who may need food, warm drinks and other resources such as sleeping bags, clothing and medical assistance.
We have recently seen a rise in people accessing our service due to the introduction of Universal Credit here in Blackpool and people needing food parcels has risen. As a charity, we rely on donations from the public as we ourselves receive no government or council funding. We encourage our service users to get involved within the running of the soup kitchen and we also have a community work team that has recently helped to tidy up Bolton street by painting the exterior of homes and power washing streets. This gives our service users a real sense of belonging, purpose, responsibility and a sense of trust and eventually will prepare them for employment. Further projects will take place in the future giving service users a sense of pride and achievement. “
